Volunteer Group Projects

Thanks for your interest in helping the animals at Houston Humane Society. There are many ways for groups and individuals to help us serve animals. For any of the tasks listed below, please contact Sue Curtis at scurtis@houstonhumane.org (713)-341-3313. Some ideas include:
  • Companies and groups can volunteer at the shelter or with special events. Our groups have the opportunity to walk dogs, socialize with cats, bathe dogs, hand out Kong treats, and help with any administrative tasks needed. Everyone must be 18 years or older to walk dogs. Contact us for availability.
  •  Host a fundraiser, like a bake sale or car wash, to benefit Houston Humane Society.
  • Organize a supply drive to collect the things we need most from our wish list, including items from your home that can be reused to help animals in our shelters.
  • Host a group craft-making project to make dog or cat toys and even cat scratchers. We often have rabbits and guinea pigs who appreciate chew toys too! Ask us for DIY toy making ideas.
Groups are also welcome to schedule a tour of our facility at the time they bring in their donations. Tours last approximately one hour and must be scheduled in advance.
