Houston Humane Society was closed, in an effort to provide the best possible care for all our animals. Starting Monday, July 31st, 2017, Houston Humane Society will begin accepting animals on a “Space Available” basis.
Houston Humane Society will not euthanize a healthy/adoptable animal to make space for another animal.
If space is not available, you are welcome to check back in a few days. You are also invited to click here
for other resources and rescues around our area.
We accept pets Monday through Thursday - 11:00 am to 3:00 pm (as space is available)
There is a $35.00 fee for all animals accepted into our adoption program.
There is a $15.00 fee for each puppy or kitten in a litter with a maximum fee of $50.00.
At this time, Houston Humane Society is unable to accept stray animals.
A stray animal has a higher chance to be reunited with its owner through a local animal control. If you find a stray, please contact the animal control service in your area. (Click the above link for a list of local animal control agencies).
Other suggestions to help if you find a stray animal: post signs around your neighborhood, at least a 5 block radius; place a sign in the veterinary clinics in the area; call Houston Humane Society and all other animal agencies to leave a found report.
Thank you for understanding the Houston Humane Society cannot accept an unlimited number of animals. By accepting only the number of animals we can provide proper care for, animals will have a better chance of adoption and euthanasia is reduced.
