Camp Pawsome

We have rebranded to CAMP PAWESOME. A name inspired by all campers who keep calling our camp awesome. Then one day a camper said it was PAWSOME and it stuck with us. Thank you campers!
Looking for the perfect Summer, Winter, or Spring Break Camp for your little ones? Camp Pawsome is a fun-filled camp that your child will never forget!
During Camp Pawsome, the kids will experience:
  • Hands on play time with the adoptable animals
  • Humane education about animal welfare
  • Play games and make crafts for the animals
  • Attend interactive show-and-tells from animal experts
  • Observe a live animal surgery in our Wellness Clinic
  • Make tons of friends and great memories!

Volunteer as a Junior Camp Counselor!

Are you 14-years-old or older? Love spending time with kids and animals? Looking for experience working with children? Houston Humane Society is looking for Junior Camp Counselors to volunteer with us at our Camp Pawsome.

Who can attend Camp Pawsome?
Camp Pawsome is open to ages 7 to 13.
Volunteer opportunities are open to ages 14 and up.
Where is Camp Pawsome held?
Camp is located at Houston Humane Society Animal Shelter at, 14700 Almeda Rd. Houston, TX 77053. Camp will take place both indoors and outdoors, so please dress accordingly.
How many campers are there per session?
We currently accept 10 campers per session. Register as soon as possible to ensure your child’s spot!
Do you provide lunch?
We ask that our campers bring a lunch. We provide two snacks per day and water.
What should we bring?
On the first day of camp, campers will receive a goodie bag, Camp T-shirt, and HHS water bottle. Campers should bring their lunches, a water bottle, a jacket, and wear closed-toed shoes and pants.
How much time should I expect my child to spend with the animals at the shelter?
Our campers should expect to spend approximately 2 hours per day with our shelter animals. We have found this to be ideal for the well-being of our shelter pets. In addition, we will also have our HHS Mascot animals to visit with the campers throughout the day.
