Join the Houston Humane Society on Saturday, August 29, for Clear the Shelters: Stand Out Weekend, a special fee-waived pet adoption event that's part of NBCUniversal Local's 12th annual Clear The Shelters campaign.

This August, NBCUniversal Local is partnering with hundreds of animal shelters across the country for Clear The Shelters 2026, a nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign that has helped more than 1 million pets find their forever homes since 2015. Now it's our turn to help even more homeless animals find the loving families they deserve.

For one day only, adoption fees will be completely waived, making it easier than ever to adopt a dog or cat from the Houston Humane Society. Every adoption not only changes one pet's life, it also creates space for another animal in need, allowing us to continue providing lifesaving care to pets across our community.

From energetic puppies and loyal adult dogs to playful kittens and affectionate cats, our shelter is filled with incredible pets waiting for a second chance. Your new best friend could be waiting for you.
