Houston Humane Society's Chief Shelter Veterinarian, Dr. Renee Poche, recently joined Houston Matters on Houston Public Media’s News 88.7 to answer questions about veterinary care and common concerns facing Houston pet owners.
Speaking with senior producer Michael Hagerty, filling in for host Craig Cohen, Dr. Poche discussed everything from services available through Houston Humane Society to what pet owners can do about persistent fleas, upper respiratory infections in cats, and their pets’ gut health.
Dr. Poche explained the different roles of the Houston Humane Society Veterinary Clinic and the shelter clinic, including the services available to pets in the community and animals in Houston Humane Society’s care.
The Houston Humane Society Veterinary Clinic provides affordable veterinary services to the public, helping pet owners access care for their dogs and cats. Services include spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, vaccinations, dental care, and more.
Call or text the Houston Humane Society Veterinary Clinic at 713-433-6421 for more information and to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome for microchips and vaccines. Visit us at 3100 W. Fuqua St.
The conversation also covered what you should do if you come across a pet that appears to be lost.
Houston Humane Society requires appointments for animal intake. Another option may be the Finder to Foster program, which allows you to foster the pet until it is adopted or until space becomes available at the shelter.
You should report lost and found pets to Petco Love Lost.
