Preventive Pet Care Made Possible for a Houston Mom and Her Dog

We’re so excited to welcome one of our newest clients to the Pets for Life program, a first-time pet owner who is learning what it truly means to care for a furry family member. 🐾💛

 

When Maritza first came to us, she shared that she had no idea how much responsibility comes with having a pet. Like many first-time pet parents, she didn’t fully understand the importance of staying up to date on vaccines or why spaying is so important for a pet’s long-term health and quality of life. She just knew she loved Sofi and wanted to do right by her.

 

Maritza, a single mom living alone with Sofi, works hard to provide the best life she can. But caring for a pet can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re doing it on your own. Through the Pets for Life program, she has learned about preventive care, the importance of annual vaccinations, and how spaying helps pets live healthier, safer lives.

 

Thanks to the support of this program and our generous donors that donated NexGard Plus and Oravet, she has been able to get Sofi vaccinated and scheduled for surgery giving her the healthy start she deserves. Without this assistance, accessing these services would have been extremely difficult for her as a single mother balancing so many responsibilities. 

 

Today, she feels more confident as a pet owner. She asks questions, stays engaged, and is committed to giving Sofi a loving, stable, and healthy home.

 

Stories like hers remind us that sometimes people don’t need judgment, they need guidance, access, and support. With the right resources, families can thrive right alongside their pets.
