Fifty-two pets from Houston Humane Society were on a recent flight out of Texas, headed for their second chances on the East Coast, thanks to Wings of Rescue. Eight of them were puppies who came to us from Hill Country Humane Society after the July 4th floods that devastated Central Texas.
On July 8th, a dedicated rescue team from Houston Humane Society traveled to the Hill Country to bring 26 dogs and puppies, who were already in the shelter’s care, back to Houston, creating space for flood-affected animals pouring into the Central Texas shelter after the disaster.
The flood and its aftermath continue to displace animals and stretch shelter resources in impacted areas. As recovery continues, more animals will need help. We’ll be here to give them care, shelter, and a chance at a new beginning.
We’re deeply grateful to Best Friends Animal Society for being an essential partner in these lifesaving efforts, and to Wings of Rescue for generously flying so many pets to areas of the country where shelters and rescue groups aren’t overwhelmed.
As a nonprofit, we rely on your generosity to save lives. Every donation directly supports the medical care, food, and shelter for animals who have nowhere else to turn. Find out how you can help.
