HHS Placement Rate Reaches All Time High

Houston Humane Society Placement Rate Reaches All Time High at 98.57%
In February, 2019, Houston Humane Society’s (HHS) placement rate reached an all time high of 98.57% for all animals received.

Over the past 18 months, HHS has devoted itself to increasing the number of animals we place through adoptions, return to owners, and transports to rescue partners. We have steadily increased our placement rate and have surpassed even our wildest expectations. In 2018 we went from 84.85% to 95.13% and we are on track to surpass those numbers.

As a result of our updated intake procedures, we are able to provide better medical care to animals with health problems and injuries, and have instituted a policy that no animal is euthanized due to lack of space.

We have also been able to increase the number of animals we accept from small community animal shelters. These animals would not have had the opportunity for a second chance at finding a new, forever home. In February, 2019, we accepted 111 animals from surrounding community shelters.

As a partner with The Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce, we continue to assist  Harris county Animals Services and BARC by accepting animals they seize in cruelty and abandonment cases.

HHS will continue to help animals in need, and every animal who enters our shelter will receive the best medical care, housing and loving attention from dedicated staff and volunteers.

None of this could be possible without the support of our community. Your “In Kind” donations of food, supplies and financial support allows us to help so many animals and give them a bright future.

Please consider going on our “Wish List” on the website to see how you can help. We are always needing:
· Dog and puppy, cat and kitten food dry and wet.
· Small mammal food, pellets and hay.
· Horse feed and hay.

Thank you from all of us at HHS and the animals for any support you can give.
