Hurricane Harvey Update - 8/29

We're late on posting an update today. We're on the ground helping animals, and it is hard to get these updates out. Thank you all for being patient!

First, we are so overwhelmed by the huge outpouring of support, not only from our own community and state, but from around the country!! We have been inundated with calls, emails, and messages of support. If we do not respond right away, please know we appreciate everything and we are trying to respond ASAP.

Today, our partners at The Office of Constable Ted Heap. Harris County Constable Pct. 5 reached out, and we mobilized a team to set up a temporary holding shelter at The Berry Center off Barker Cypress. We'll be there for several days helping with supplies, staff and volunteers, and whatever else is needed. Our lead animal cruelty investigator, Sgt. Jantzen was out in rescue boats today helping bring people and pets to dry land.

We've partnered with HSUS to transport our current adoptables to shelters around the country to free up space for the influx of stray and displaced animals we expect to need shelter in the coming days and weeks. Look for more info on that tomorrow.

We've had a lot of folks ask how they can help. You can give directly to our Hurricane Harvey fund to earmark your donation to go directly towards our relief efforts: https://www.houstonhumane.org/(Give)/giving/designate-your-gift/hurricane-harvey-fund.

We also have an amazon wishlist set up for those that would like to give items. We aren't particular about brands, and we are totally ok if you prefer to order from another vendor such as chewy.com. Please just consider this list as a guide: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ls/?ie=UTF8&lid=2TP1CHNL61H22
